Why Montessori?

  The Montessori theory and practice of educating children began with Dr. Maria Montessori. Through scientific observations, she determined that children learn best when learning at their own pace and given the choice of his or her own activities. In addition, part of the Montessori teaching philosophy extends beyond the classroom to encompass the family and society. Dr. Montessori sought to develop in each child their self esteem, independence, a continual desire for learning, and respect for themselves as well as for all people. 

  "The child's choice, practical work, care of others and the environment, and above all the high levels of concentration reached when work is respected and not interrupted, reveal a human being that is superior not only academically, but emotionally and spiritually, a child who cares deeply about other people and the world, and who works to discover a unique, individual way to contribute. "This is the essence of real Montessori work today".

  We believe children have a natural desire to learn, and will act joyfully to the learning process if given the opportunity. Our Montessori teachers work with each child individually, to encourage him or her to explore each subject, while progressing at their own pace. 

 With the modern world is becoming more interrelated, it is especially advantageous for children to begin at an early age to acquire a working knowledge of a second language. As this fact has become increasingly clear to parents, they realize there is a educational necessity for their children to be active participants both intellectually and socially, towards achieving their future aspirations.

Why Montessori Chinese? 

 With worldwide growing interest in China, as it is on the road to becoming a major international participant in the fields of business and culture, understanding Chinese language and culture can be a major ingredient for a child's future growth and success, as they move forward in their life’s journey. 


Following the Montessori method of teaching, our program makes the learning process for children something they look forward to, a fun and enjoyable educational experience. The children are acquiring knowledge!

  The Montessori Chinese Language Preschool  (MCLPS) believes in providing the most beneficial learning environment possible. We accomplish this by employing the Montessori method of education.

  At MCLPS our educators are focused on providing an academic environment that encourage each child to develop their academic strengths and talents using their creativity and imagination, to their fullest potential.


  Our mission at the MCLPS is to develop in every student a strong sense of self worth, self reliance and independence that will provide a solid foundation for the child’s psychological well balance and positive feelings. Our dedication to the Montessori method of teaching children, results in a productive, resourceful and confident adult.


 MCLPS, founder Li Zhen is a certified Montessori teacher,with a successful teaching history of over 12 years, including being the head Chinese language teacher (at the first Montessori school in America),The Whitby School, located in Greenwich, Ct. 

Li was also, the Chinese language teacher, at The Hudson Country Montessori School, in New Rochelle, N.Y. 

As part of her credentials, Li is a member of the American Montessori Society and also has her CDA (Child Development Associate) Certification. 

 Following in the path established by Dr.Maria Montessori, Li Zhen has incorporated her love for educating children, with the realization of her goal, the establishment of,The Montessori Chinese Language Preschool.

  The Montessori Chinese Language Preschool  has no religious affiliation. MCLPS believes in diversity, and accepts all children from every race,religion and cultural background.


  Montessori Chinese Language Preschool is dedicated to providing education for children consistent with the Montessori philosophy. Our focus is to provide the students with the desire and ability to learn the Chinese language and culture, along with the academics and social interactive skills necessary for maintaining healthy, productive lives. Included in our goal, is to help instill in every student responsibility, self respect, along with respect for each other, society and the natural environment, as stated by Dr.Maria Montessori.

Applying Dr. Montessori’s philosophy:

"Every child carries within them the person they will become”. 

  At MCLPS we believe that it is our responsibility to help every student to discover their individual potential.  MCLPS has developed a sound and proven academic curriculum designed to motivate and challenge each child to meet his or her own academic needs while progressing at their own pace. We recognize the need for each child to progress at their own speed, thereby providing the freedom for that child to gain the confidence required to explore new and future educational interests, without being held back or losing momentum. And, if the child wants to repeat any lesson or activities, they have the freedom to do so. This in turn will contribute to the building of confidence within the child and to enable he or she to seek out new intellectual discoveries through the process of learning. 

  Here at the MCLPS, it’s all about helping the children to accomplish their goals and to achieve their feeling of success. At MCLPS we focus on establishing a solid foundation and learning experience for each child, designed for their continued future development and growth in all academic endeavors, and their personal life’s journey.

  MCLPS is fully focused toward nurturing each child’s education, self esteem and individuality, directly incorporating the instructional and learning process designed by Dr. Maria Montessori. 

  We, the Montessori trained teachers of the MCLPS, are devoted to motivating our students for Success!!!
